How can I get my two year old to go to bed earlier?

My 2 year old son has been going to bed around 11 pm and waking around 11 am. This hasnt been a problem until i thought this morning about how he can't go to school like that. Does anyone have any advice?

  • I would just push it back gradually, both waking him earlier and putting him down earlier -- like by 20 minutes each day. Keep everything else consistent (bedtime routine, etc).

  • Wake him up earlier. Keep him up more during the day and he'll go to bed earlier. If he's still taking naps during the day cut that back too. Kids need a good 11 -12 hours of sleep at night so keep in mind when he goes to bed earlier he'll be getting up earlier also.

  • Start waking him up around 8 am, if he still takes naps limit them to 1-2 hours before 3 in the afternoon.
