My son has very thick hair and never seems to smell clean. I make him wash twice everyday. Any ideas?

  • Washing it too much can actually agitate the skin causing more oil to be produced. You need to treat the scalp with some kind of medicine or special shampoo. Since he is a boy it wouldnt really kill him to just shave his head.... :)

  • I would cut his hair shorter. My son has started having this problem, because he has longer hair. Make sure he is using a clarifying shampoo and not a moisturizing one. Also my son does not do a great job washing his hair so we are working on that too.

  • You are definitely washing it too often. I would #1. Have it cut shorter. #2. Use a clarifying shampoo twice a month. #3. Have him lather & rinse twice each time he showers.

  • Age is a factor. Same thing with my 14 year old daughter. Hormones---they'll grow out of it when puberty is over. In the meantime, plug your nose.
