  • Luai(spelling?) theme! Set up some foam visor hats with glue and foam markers and little jewels to glue on. Then have a limbo contest(adults excluded because NO adult back can take that! LOL). Then have a treasure hunt in the sand set up. Get a large mostly flat rubbermaid tub(one of the under the bed ones) and fill it with sand. Then hide little trinkets 12 y/o's would enjoy in it and let them have a turn each at finding the trinkets. Some good ideas--Lip smackers, bags of candy, jewelry, etc. Then if you have room, set up a table volleyball game. Get a net or some divider stretch it across your coffee table and then get a small bouncy ball for the kids to smack back and forth. You can even turn it into a sleep over with a "fire" created out of a flashlight and some red construction paper set to look like flames.
All of this is relatively cheap and very easy.
For the decorations, get some print outs of parrots and paste them

  • on the walls. and some balloons You can also use big palm leaves to serve food on(put them under the plate) and straw hats with napkins inside turned upside down are adorable chip holders. For drinks get a huge flower pot fil it with ice and drinks and put fake flowers around the outside rim.
    Good luck!
