Have you ever put an egg (whole, uncooked) in a cup of vinegar overnight?

Cool science experiment. I had done it as a kid, my son had to do it for an experiment and document the results. It was fun. :)

  • What happened was the shell dissolves. It becomes an egg encased in it's membrane (the one you peel off the hard boiled egg, skin like.) You can pick it up and look into it. We then cut the membrane and let the white slip out and the yolk was kind of rubbery. I think that it was on it's way to being pickled. Of course now my kids are trying all kinds of egg experiments. (We have chickens and an abundance of eggs.) kids are weird and we have so much fun. :)
