  • Walkers aren't a good idea for development. Since she is trying to learn how to walk right now it would be a good idea not to use the walker so she could develop naturally.

  • My son took his first couple steps at 7 and a half months. He was actually walking around by 9 months. I'm not sure when exactly he started pulling himself up on things, though. Right around that time frame though. Enjoy the non walking stage while it lasts! You never get any rest once they are running around!

  • My kids were both kind of lazy about walking. They both started at about 14 months.

  • I found a link to a article about baby walkers and development. It points out the the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that they not be used.

  • My older son started walking at 9 months 4 days. He used a walker when he was with my mom and it didn't seem to slow him down any. I am hoping my lo walks around the same time, he'll be 5 months on x-mas.

  • Don't really remember when they started pulling up. I know my son was about 6 months because I distinctly remember him climbing onto the couch at 6 1/2 months and then dive bombing off of it onto the hardwood floor and then laughing like a fool. He was running through the house before he turned 11 months and took his first real step at 9 1/2 months.
My oldest daughter was walking at 14 months but pulling up and cruising at around 10-11 months.
My middle daughter took her first step around 11 months and was walking shortly after her 1st birthday. She had been pulling up and cruising for awhile. My youngest daughter started pulling up around 7 months, I'd say and took her first step just before 9 months but didn't start to walk on her own until just before her 1st birthday.
And we used a walker with the first 3 and never had any issues. My oldest had no interest in walking until using the walker.
