  • Stretch marks are genetic, unfortunately, and there's not actually anything that can be done to prevent them despite what the lotions say. I believe that exercise and hydration can help nominally since they improve skin elasticity, but other than that, thank your lucky genes if you manage to avoid them! :)

To all of you that do escape the scars: Enjoy your smooth beautiful skin! Go get yourself a bikini and flaunt it! :D (I'm trying to live vicariously here! hee hee!)

  • P.S. I used lotions every day with my last pregnancy and still got stretch marks. Then again I'm short waisted and had a 9 pound baby so my belly was huge! I'd be surprised if I didn't have them!

  • Stretch marks occur at the deepest layer of skin, it doesn't matter what you use, no topical cream will penetrate. The only thing you can do to avoid stretch marks is to try not to gain too much weight, that and winning the genetic lottery.

  • I only got them on my butt and I gained 35+ pounds with my 1st pregnancy. So far with this pregnancy I've only noticed 2 new ones.

  • I didnt get any until the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy. I gained over 50lbs. I even walked two miles every day and other light exercise.
