  • I'd just steam or bake and mash or puree fruits and veggies. Water or breastmilk can be added, but often times is not needed.

  • Start off with sweet potatoe, carrots, potatoe as above said u can add formula,bm or water and purée with a blender. Slowly introduce new veg, fruit. You can make a batch and freeze them in ice cube trays, then place how many cubes your child will eat into freezer bags and when needed warm/defrost in a bowl over a boiling pot of water.

  • usually, I would puree or mash whatever we were eating: avocado, baked sweet potato, zuchini, peas, etc. There are two great books, with differing philosphies, that you should pick up at your local library: Baby Led Weaning and Super Baby Food. There is also good information on the websites:

Be sure to avoid the allergy trigger foods. This is not a complete list: before age 1, no soy, dairy, wheat, citrus, egg white, strawberries; before age 2 no honey, chocolate, nuts

  • I would buy the frozen veggies at the store, like I eat myself, cook them and them stick them in the blender! Way cheaper than jar food!

  • I just smashed everything i ate. If i ate pasta, i would smash it up. If i ate fruit, it would smash it up. Of course take into condideration the types of food they should avoid at certain ages. I never put any liduid in it either. As long as it was mushy enough to not choke on, she would eat it right up.
