  • No matter what I get for my 18 month old daughter she just plays with the box it came in! LOL We actually gave her some flashcards to play with and once she finished playing with the box she kept quite busy looking at all the cards. So maybe try some of those?

  • Strangely, if you have a child that gets bored fast, (if you really mean that statement) I would suggest that you stop finding ways to stop her from getting bored because the more you stimulate her with various distractions the more you are teaching her to have a short attention span and to require constant interaction. As a mom you may think it is a good idea to give your baby constant interaction and stimulation, but think about it....babies grow up to be children and children grow up to be adults. Do you think it is a good trait to become bored easily? To need constant excitement? constant interaction? Let her learn to amuse herself. At first she may only be able to do it for a short time, but encourage her by letting her figure out how to amuse herself!

  • A 19 mo old should be pretty entertained with a box, pots and pans, blocks etc. Maybe you are expecting her to entertain herself too much. Maybe you are giving her toys that only do one, or a few things. Go for open ended things like blocks, dishes, dolls, cars etc. that have her use her imagination.
