starting baby food

so we are just (as of wednesday) starting our dd on baby foods. The nutritionist told me to get her on a breakfast, lunch, and dinner schedule. He also gave me a sheet of paper that says how much of each kind of food, including formula she should eat.. it seems like alot. Just curious about what some of you moms do. I am going to research it, but like I said.. just curious, because i don't know where to begin with it.

  • You can start with cereal or veggies. Just do a few spoonfuls and then let her eat her formula or you can do formula and then food. It worked better for us to do food first and then eat. All children are different and you will have to play with the schedule to see what works best for your family.

  • I agree, i would start ur baby on rice cereal an fruit/veggies first. i think its 1 new veg/fruit every few days to determine if ur baby has food allergies. a few spoonfuls of each. and if they still seem like theyre hungry then a few oz of formula after. u may want to try formula then solids, u just gota figure out what ur child perfers =)

  • skip the cereal -- it tastes bad and is just filler. skip jarred baby food and go to the real thing. remember food before 1 is just for fun.

  • How old is LO? For just starting out, 3 meals a day seems like a lot. If LO is under 12 mos, breast milk or formula is the primary source of nutrition. Follow babe's lead.
