How often should 8 and 10 year old boys be taking a shower / bath? I think they should have one every night, as they get quite manky at school and it helps relax them before bed. What do other people do?

  • I would say every night or every other night. Not only for the reasons that you mentioned, but also because of hormones and puberty coming on. As they get more into their teens and puberty sets in, they start smelling a little .. umm .. not soo lovely. So I would definately suggest every night or every other night.

  • I have an almost 10 year old boy and an almost 8 year old boy and they shower every day. My oldest son HAS to shower every day, sometimes more than once, and he's been wearing deodorant since he was 7. If he doesn't, you can't be around him.

  • My boys, every other night. They both have skin conditions (keratosis pilaris and eczema) that gets dry and cracked if they shower too frequently, but every other night and a good deodorant seems to work for them.

  • Wow, from the sound of it I'm very lucky. My kids both love to bathe... mine often ask me for the second bath of the day.
I don't force it if they don't ask as long as we're just hanging around the house but mine know if you're leaving the house, you're gonna bathe before you go if you haven't already that day.

  • Everyday, that is when boys start smelling like a dirty locker room. They smell even after showering but daily showers really help. My son is 13 and he has NO choice but to shower every day.
