  • My daughter learned to tie her shoes just by watching.

  • Just teach him in steps

    1) make an x
    2) push one through the bottom of the x
    3) wrap one around the thumb and the x
    4) push it through with the finger

    Practice 1 + 2 for a couple days
Then after he is doing and getting completely bored go on to step 3 and 4

    show him many many times
    congratulate all efforts

And maybe get him some new shoes he loves so he can wear them once he learns to tie (we did this with ours and though he hated to practice he did it till he could wear those new tie shoes)

  • Use a piece of coated wire - or something else stiffer and sturdier than a shoelace. Once we showed DS on that, and he could see where each loop went he picked it up in 5 minutes. He practiced on the wire for a while, then switched to laces.
