peanut butter blossoms

Ok so my sister and I made peanut butter blossoms today. We used the recipe on the back of a hershey kisses bag. They didn't taste like when we used to make them years ago. They didn't have enough of a peanut butter flavor. The recipe we used to use was the Better Homes and Garden's cookbook (the one that looks like a red and white checkered table cloth) My mom unfortunately threw it out. Anyone have that cookbook want to share the recipe?

  • Peanut Blossom Cookies
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup Butter, softened
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    1 large egg
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling
    48 milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped
    1. Heat oven to 375°F. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, butter and peanut butter in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy (1 to 2 minutes). Add egg, vanilla and salt; continue beating until well mixed (1 minute). Add flour and baking soda. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed (1 to 2 minutes).

    2. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. (If dough is too soft, refrigerate 30 to 60 minutes.) Roll balls in 1/4 cup sugar. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

  • The above is what I have in my list for peanut blossom. My BH&G cookbook doesn't have PB blossom, but it does have PB, so here is the recipe for those:
    Peanut Butter Cookies

    ½ c butter
    ½ c PB
    ½ c granulated sugar
    ½ c brown sugar
    1 egg
    ½ tsp vanilla
    1 ¼ cups flour
    ¾ tsp soda
    ¼ tsp salt

    oven 375

    Thoroughly cream butter, PB, sugars, egg, and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Blend into creamed mixture. Shape in 1 inch balls, roll in granulated sugar, place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Crisscross with fork tines. Bake at 375 for 10-12 min. cool slightly, remove from pan. 4 dozen.

  • I see my first recipe didn't make it all on. What it said was to immediately press the kiss into the top of the cookie, then remove the cookie from the cookie sheet.

  • If you like peanut butter blossems there is a candy called buck eyes that taste like reeses cups. They are good as well.
