does my son have diaper rash?

my son has a red rash around his legs and above his wee wee. it doesn't have spots it's just red. i have used baby powder and diaper rash cream but it still won't go away.i've been using the cream and powder for two weeks but it still won't go away. i have tried three different brands of diapers too. i don't know if it's diaper rash or something else. he has chubby thighs and it's on his thighs too. i always change his diaper everytime it's dirty. has this happened to anyone? is it diaper rash? if so do you know of anything that will make it go away?

  • Sounds like a yeast infection to me. The doctor can give you an anti-fungal for it. If you can't get to the doctor (with the holidays it might be hard to get in to see the doc) you could see if Monistat helps.

  • if its been present for two weeks and no relief from creams..i would take him into the doctor...he can determine what it really is and give you the appropriate medication..even if it is just a stronger diaper rash cream.

  • DO NOT USE BABY POWDER!! We found out that if it is yeast of bacteria of some kind that they will feed on the baby powder and the rash will get worse. Keep it clean and dry and if that doesn't help see a doctor.
