Just a quick ?

If you have sisters or brothers with a different parent then yours. Do you consider and call them your half siblings. Like I have 2 sisters on my Mom side and we all have different fathers ( I know), and on my Dad's side I have another sister she has a different Mom. No matter what side they are on I still consider and call them my sisters, not my half sisters. I don't consider any of my family halves, kwim.
So do you?
I'm asking because in a group someone said half nephew , so I was curious.

  • My sister is my sister even though we have different dads. I said half sister one time bc my dad said it and my mom jumped all over me so I never said it again.

  • i do, but only because i never knew her. she's my dad's daughter, he's 13 years older than my mom so my half sister is a lot older than me, and lives in a different state. the only time i ever met her was when i was 7 years old at her wedding. i imagine though that if we had lived near eachother, we'd have a closer bond and i'd consider her my sister. on the other hand, i've known my husband's neice since she was in her mommy's tummy & before we were married, so i think of her as my neice and not neice inlaw or whatever lol.

  • I have half sisters and brothers. I call the one sister who shares my mom my sister (who was raised in my household) and the others who share my dad (raised by their mom in another household), halfs.

  • I have a step sister, our parents divorce though, but we were raised together and I include her as my sister. I don't think the half thing is a good idea especially if the children were raised together. They are all sisters and brothers.

  • My mother had 3 kids with my bio-dad. Then she remarried when I was 11 and had one child with my step father who also had a child with another woman five months before my sister was born. I was raised with the two kids my mother had with my bio-dad and my step father's two children. Plus, when my step father got custody of his son, this son had a sister that came to live with us, too. (She did not stay with us very long, though. Her mother came for her after she lived with us for a year. Her brother was devasted. I don't think that he ever got over that).

Now my bio-dad had three children with my mom, two other kids with one woman and another child with another woman. Except for the sister of my step father's son, we call each other brother and sister.

Now if my bio-dad married the woman that he had the two children with, I would have seven additional brothers and sisters...
