  • Surround the child with familiar items from the former home.

  • AT this age they are resilent and just get him or her stuff unpacked right away she he/she can get use to the room. Within a month they should be fully adjusted...My poor kids have moved alot so we do the transition thing often. Granted they are older now (well two are) 5 mos is a decent amt of time before the next baby comes. I would not even stress:)

  • We closed on our house when our son was about 16 months old, but it was another month before we moved in. We took him over there quite a few times as we slowly moved stuff in and were working on various things. We'd even eat dinner over there before heading back to our apartment. When we officially moved in, we made sure we got his room done and his toys out before we took him back over there. He had no problems getting used to the house once we were there permanently.
