how can i keep my dog from counter surfing when we are not looking?

he never does it when we are around to catch him in the act. he does it when we are out of the room. i need help with this...

  • Ours does it when we leave the we stick her in the cage when we aren't home. Try not leaving dishes or food on the counters that might smell yummy to him. (not implying you do)

  • Had a friend with this problem...she had 2 great danes. They placed tac strips on the counters, furniture and window sills. The dogs only touched the tac strips once and they no longer had a problem. The tac strips did not harm the dogs...just woke them up a bit!!

  • put some mice traps under newspapers, and when the dog touches the newspaper the traps go off, and the dog/cat will beat it. It worked for my cat!
