Babys first birthday

My son will be one the end of November and I know he is still a little young to go to Chucke Cheese or any of those fun centers-or maybe he isnt but I dont really know what to do for his birthday so he will have a good time and also be able to run around doing things to keep him amused. i dont want to have it at a relatives house so everyone is just sitting around I want something kid friendly.... Any suggestions.. anyone???

  • Maybe a park or something. Just like you said, NOT chuck e cheese!! that's where we had my dds first birthday and it was a disaster!! Happy early birthday to your little one!

  • It's a good idea to have the first party at home or somewhere where he can sleep. He is only going to be up for about an hour before he gets cranky and mad. Then he will need a nap or else it isnt a very nice party for him. While he naps, everyoen can continue with the party.

  • Home sounds good to me. My son will be 1 in a month, and we plan to have one other baby over around lunch time and just let them play for an hour with a couple new toys. Elaborate first birthdays sound more like an attempt for parents to make a scene than a special day for the baby.

  • I think a park would be the best place. Or possibly somewhere like McDonalds (somewhere that has an indoor playplace) if it will be cold. That way kids of all ages will be able to have fun since your son will really still be too young for many games and such.

  • I had my first son's first birthday (and all the birthday's) at our house. I have them start at 2:00 so that he is still napping but it gives everyone time to arrive and be settled in. Then when he gets up, I have everyone start eating, do the presents, then the cake. They are way too little to remember what you did or where you took them for their birthday at 1 so don't feel bad about having it at home. Save the Chuck E Cheese for when they get older.

  • I had my sons party at my house and it went great. Only b/c he was falling alseep during the end of it and i could just put him in his bed. Plus you can set your own time to start and when you want ppl to leave..lol..and for chuckie its ok for the older kids like 2 and up and i only say that b/c my sis had her son's party their and i took my kid and he liked it but its not too much to do for a kid thats not walking really well. j/m/o

  • I had my son's 1st birthday at our church in the children's auditorium. It was already decorated for Christmas (my son's birthday is LATE November) and so I didn't have to do too much decorating. It was a nice big area for my son to run around in and plenty of room for our family/close friends.

  • Parties can be so overwhelming at this age, a private home is really the best place for the baby! (in my opinion)

When my oldest turned one, my parents graciously opened their house to us and we hosted a great family party! there were about 50 relatives there all together, we kept it simple and served sub sandwiches, punch, side salads, chips and dip and of COURSE cake :)

After my little guy finished rubbing his cake in his hair, up his nose, behind his ears, etc...I was able to carry him straight to the bath :) And when he crashed out from all the excitement, I was able to lay him in the crib in my parent's guest room so he could rest.

Our youngest son is turning one next month, and we are planning almost the exact same thing! (except this time I am serving mini quiches instead of sandwiches! haha)
