Has anyone started a college fund for their kid?

  • This is the best investment anyone can make, it will not gain you any interest but it will freeze the tuition rate at the time you buy, which is worth its weight in gold! tuition rise every year, and if you do this early on, imagine the savings. Plus you can get it all back in the event is not needed for whatever reason.

  • I have. Actually, my father started it when my daughter was born. Now I try to put some money in it every month.

  • No. We might one day if we can afford it. But we plan on our kids working through college and getting scholarships like my husband and I did. The kids all have their own savings accounts though. They are 4, 2, 1, and a newborn. We put all money we receive at their birth, and on their birthdays and Christmas, into their personal bank account.
