How do you cook a ham?

It's my first Christmas on my own, and not quite sure how to make the best ham. Some ideas would be appreciated! Thank you!

  • Is it a already cooked ham or a uncooked ham. There should be instructions on the ham.

  • I like a bone-in ham. I put it in a roasting pan, put some water in the bottom & cover with foil. Bake at 350 (check weight for time) during that last 10 minutes, uncover, baste with juices & let the top brown a bit.

  • I get a fully cooked ham, bone in, and not cut. I put it in a turkey roasting bag. in a seperate bowl i mix ginger ale, brown sugar, orange juice, maple syrup, honey. I pour that over the ham after scoring the ham with a knife. i put a lot in there and it sometimes looks like too much but the ham soaks it up. I put it in a roasting pan and seal the bag with a few puncture holes to air can get out. bake it at 350 for a couple hours. the ham will be supper tender and so sweet. best recipe ever for a ham!

    It's from


    * 1 (5 pound) fully cooked sliced ham
    * 1/4 cup whole cloves
    * 1 cup pineapple juice
    * 1 cup brown sugar
    * 1/2 cup honey
    * 2 oranges, juiced

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    2. Place the ham in a roasting pan and dot with cloves. In a saucepan combine the pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey and orange juice. Stir and simmer over medium-low heat until thickened, about 10 minutes. Pour the glaze over the ham.
    3. Bake the ham uncovered for 1 hour in the preheated oven.

  • preheat if its already cookd to 400
    dress your ham with honey, carrots, raisins, and balsamic vinegar
    add a can of pienapple over the top (in a baking pan)
    cook uncovered 55 minutes reduce heat to300 additional 15 minutes
    slice and enjoy
