If you found out you were related to the person you were dating......

Ok, don't take this serious!!! This is just for fun lol.

If you found out that you were dating and/or sleeping with a family member, how distant would they have to be before it didn't really bother you?

Brother/sister? 1st cousin? 2nd cousin? 3rd? Etc..

  • I met a guy online one time and we got close. We were going to get together in real life to get even "closer". Somehow we talked about family and it turned out we were cousins! We decided not to get together but on my part it was bc he turned out to be an alcoholic, not bc we were kin. I don't have a problem being with a cousin but wouldn't be with an uncle or sibling. In about 23 states it's ok to marry your first cousin and birth defects from such a union is not that much higher than the general population. Imagine that.

  • I wouldn't date any family members... no matter what number they were... lol. If I found out, I would puke and feel gross.

  • That's a strange question. Someones been watching Jerry Springer? Hmmm.... I would have to say I would probably freak out. That would never happen though, I actually KNOW all of my family members 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th etc cousins. After a while the 'related' doesn't actually mean you are related. Genetically anyways. Many cultures marry 1st and 2nd cousins with no problems, they have children without any medical or mental difficulties. What is 'acceptable' depends on where you live and what culture you've been raised in.

  • Idk it grosses me out thinking about it but on the Women's Entertainment channel, there's a show called "Secret Lives of Women" which did have an episode about taboo relationships and one of them did feature 1st cousins that were engaged. I guess it was in one of the few, or only, state where it's allowed. Gross!
