  • It could be contractions. With my first son, I went to L&D because of my swelling/blood pressure (I had preeclampsia) .... and I found out that I was 4 cm dilated and I never had a single pain. I had no idea but I was in labor.

  • Your doctor should have told you what to watch for and when to call. If not you can call the OB floor of the hospital where you are going to have the baby and they will tell you.

  • Sounds like braxton hicks. I'd call your doc/ob-gyn or l&d and ask them about it - it's what they're there for and what you're paying for!

  • How long does the tightening last?
Are you able to make it go away with hydration, food, rest, a walk, or a shower, etc?

  • Are you healthy/have complications?
It is probably normal braxton hicks (practice) contractions.
But if you feel better, you can always call your doctor/midwife.

  • It is contractions of some kind, if they are real contractions and aren't bothering you just relax, eat something and wait and see what happens. Don't worry about it.
