at what age did you start giving your babies solid foods?

I mean solid foods not the jar baby food. And what did you give them? PIOG

  • We never used jarred foods. Great info on feeding babies here: www.babyledweaning.com and here: www.superbabyfood.com

  • my babies never ate from a jar. we went straight to 'real' fresh food at around 11 months, before than we would let them suck on some fruit or something.

  • LOL well my youngest thinks she's as old as the other 5 kids and refuses baby food. She's been trying bites of things since about 6 months in a teether mesh thingy - lol - what's that thing called? She's 10 1/2 months old now and eats sandwiches (bites off of someone's), waffles, bits of apple, banana, toast, crackers, pasta, veggies, bits of meat, she eats well cut food but the same things the rest of the family eats. My others haven't eaten the same as she does - at all.

  • Neither of my boys had jarred food, they started right on table food. They were both between 7 and 8 months. I'd give them any foods soft enough for them to chew... well-steamed veggies, soft fruits, little bits of soft meat... whole grain pastas, brown rice. Really, anything that seemed appropriate.
