Can I fix the hard drive?

My 2 year old knocked my S/Os external hard drive off the T.V. tray that it was on tonight and now it wont stay on. It comes on for a second, you can here the internal disc going but then it just stops and the light on the inside goes dark. Is their any fixing it? Can you ask your S/Os? Or someone that you know? I am hoping that this is an easy(cheap) fix.

  • It's possible that the enclosure has become broken/or broken loose a connector inside.

You could take it apart and check to see if the connectors for the cables are still properly seated as a start.

It's delicate work.... so do not touch the inner workings of the hard drive except the cabling.

Did this happen while it was running? ---- or?
