  • No military person or family should ever have to be on welfare. That is just sick and wrong. They should also never have to worry about medical expenses of any kind. It's sad they way the military are treated in this country.

  • Write to your elected officials on that.

  • no, we don't.

  • clearly you are not educated on the subject. You will find that most military families do qualify for assistance programs, which is disgusting for those men and women who put their lives on the line to protect ours.

  • before you post something like this, you should research your facts. go will do wonders. is a good place to start, it will tell you how much we make a month-and then you can decide if you could live off that.

  • No, they don't. You want to look at the numbers at the bottom of this chart, for E, enlisted. The ones that start with O are officers, and are NOT the norm

For the first 2-3 years all new enlisted families of 4 are below the federal poverty line.  And people complain about teachers not being paid least they get a livable wage.

  • Just because the military gets a lot of tax dollars, that does not translate into lots of dollars for each military person and their families. A lot of the tax $ goes to equipment, technology, etc. I feel that our military personnel do not get paid enough for putting their lives on the line every minute of every day. No military family should be in a position to qualify for PA, and it is just sickening that we as a nation do not take better care of the men and women (and their families) who protect us each day. BTW, this is not a new thing. My parents went through this in the 60's. Even then, we didn't value our military.

  • What is even more terrible is that their children get next to nothing if they lose their parent(s). The VA is a scam. It's horrible. If only our defense spending went to making vets well and helping their families. I'm totally happy to pay taxes so those children can eat.

While joining the services is a CHOICE, it should be compensated fairly. The person who posted this is a twat and a troll.

You don't have to agree with the government's decision to go to war, but making harassing comments to soldiers is gross.

  • Another troll with nothing better to do with her life... get a hobby, will ya?

The previous posters have said everything I was going to. If you hate the US military so much, then move to another country for awhile, and see how things work there.
