what if im really really hungry around 11:00 pm should i eat or starve?

i dont want to lower my metabolism but i dont want to gain weight from eating late at night...or does time even have an effect on food??

  • try adding a after dinner snack, if you eat dinner around 6 then have a snack around 8, try fruit or yogurt that way you satisfy the sweet craving if you get it. Eating at 11 if you go to bed shortly after isnt good for you, but if you dont go to bed until 3 then I would think it is okay. It all depends on your sleep schedule and when you get up in the morning.

  • and they are not cravings or nothing i em just really hungry and my stomach rumbles i also get very dizzy and weak

  • is your caloric intake during the day proper for your weight/activity level? you should be eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. it sounds like low blood sugar possibly. I would re-evaluate your calories and how your meals are spread out. 1300-1500 calories a day if your excercising is fine I know many women think they have to only take in 11-1200 if they want to lose pounds.

  • Drink water a lot of it when you are hungry late if that doesn't help eat something small and healthy, rice cakes are good for that.

  • It's best not to eat 4 hours at least before bed but if you find yourself hungry have a couple of bits of fruit or water to make sure you are actually hungry. If you don't want fruit then it may just be cravings.

    It's best to eat fruit if you have to eat something because it gets digestive very very quickly and therefore won't be as disruptive to your sleep as something else.

    Stomach rumbling and dizziness is a sign of digestive stress and withdrawal. Many foods contain heterocyclic amines and addictive substances that irritate the body.

  • If you are getting stomach rumbles it would be better for you not to eat anything and give your digestive system a break. The rumbles with pass but if you absolutely need to eat have fruit.

  • if water doesn't help quell the grumbles so you can go to bed, eat a piece of cheese, drink a glass of milk or eat a banana....

  • The body does not know what time of day you eat. For example, if you eat lunch at noon and take a nap at two - the body will not change the way you metabolize your food.

  • I don't think the time of day matters...I think it is total calories vs. amount of calories burned. People use that concept of not eating after a certain hour to limit overall calories. If you are hungry at that hour, have a small healthy snack. Or maybe eat dinner a little later....whatever works for you! Starving is never healthy.

  • I heard that you should eat a bowl of cereal if it's late at night. One source suggested using Almond Breeze instead of milk on the cereal
