when did your baby begin to sleep all night and be awake most during the day

My baby is only 6 weeks, he doesnt sleep bad, only wakes up once or twice to feed, change and right back to sleep.

Also what is typical for a 6 week old to do?

  • I think that's pretty average. My middle son was like that. My oldest was up at least four times per night. My youngest started to sleep through at 3 weeks. I think that most start to sleep through or at least sleep longer stretches around 4 months. But I could be wrong.

  • When my daughter was born I would have to wake her up for feedings and changings. She has always slept through the night. Still does and she is 3 1/2 years old. Every child is different. Sounds like you got lucky. Enjoy it.

  • Around 4 months he was sleeping a straight 10-13 hours every night,he is now 16 months and still sleeps a straight 10-13 hours every night with a 45 minute-1 and half hour nap most afternoons. Before that only woke once a night for a quick change and small bottle and went right back to sleep.

  • My daughter is 14 months and she sleeps for about 9 hours at night, but she wakes up at least once. It's pretty rare that she sleeps through the night.

  • **11 hours- sorry I counted wrong... she goes to bed about 7 sometimes 8 and wakes up at about 7. Sometimes 6:30... so actually that's almost 12 hours.
