parchment versus wax paper

are they both the same thing? the wax paper I have says "microwave safe", but nothing about being oven safe....

  • Do not put wax paper in the oven! If a recipe calls for parchment paper and you don't have any, just spray the pan really well with cooking spray.

  • There's a difference. You don't want to put wax paper in your oven.
