is there any way to counter act constipating foods in my 17 month old??

My 17 month old LOVES milk! he can drink 6 8oz cups of milk a day..usually 3 in the morning and 3 at night...but it constipates him...is there anything i could do to help counter act it??

  • The best thing to do is limit the dairy products in general and increase fiber intake. Trying to counteract constipation is not getting to the root of the problem. It will probably just wreak havoc on his system.

  • Cut back on, or eliminate meat, dairy, bananas, white flour and other simple grains, high fructose and other processed sugars.
    Give your child lots of water, whole grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables.

  • If he's still on whole milk change him to 2% and then you can also water it down. 48 oz of milk is a HUGE amount to drink, does he eat well??? I would limit the actual milk to 20 oz./day...s o do 4 oz water and 4 oz milk.
    And then increase fiber and decrease other constipating foods like banana's and applesauce
