How heavy your period is has no bearing on anything. Having an irregular period can make it harder to plan a pregnancy since you don't ovulate at the same time every month, but you can chart to get around that. (Toni Weschler's book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and the website www.fertilityfriend.com are great resources to get you started on charting and getting to know your body in general.) It usually doesn't indicate any kind of fertility issues, though.
