When should a baby start teething?

Hi mothers,
My baby is only two months but lately she's been drooling so much and i just think it's a little early for her to be drooling so much, could it be that she might start teething???

  • It is a little early, but babies develop differently. One of my boys got his first tooth at 3 months, one not until he was 7 months. Babies do drool a lot, so it's hard to say. She'll probably be fussy if she's teething.

  • Most babies gland open up in there mouth around age 2 months which causes so much drool. I wouldn't rule out teething though. some babies can start as early as 2 months but most don't start teething til 3 and 4 months old and you may not see a tooth for a while. My son started teething at 3 months but never saw a tooth til 7 months and also started drooling like crazy at 2 months. Signs your baby is teething fussiness, yellowish almost clear diaherrea, knawing on fingers/fist or anything can get to their mouth, and possibly slight fever but some babies show now signs at all of teething (those are the lucky parents lol) Good luck. You can feel her gums too if swollen she is teeth or bumps on gums.

  • I just asked my pedi this, and he said between 6 and 13 months of age. My daughter is going on 7 months and has no teeth, and my nephew did not get any teeth til he was about 1.

  • My son started drooling like crazy, I mean like drenching a bib in 15 minutes at 3 months. He finally got his frst tooth at 9 1/2 months. He still drools like that. I'm hoping it'll let up soon. But I know some kids who didn't get a tooth til after thier first birthday and I also know a girl who was born with 2 teeth. I wouldn't worry.

  • My son started drooling like crazy around 2 months also. Didn't get his first tooth til he was about 8 months? Maybe later. He had 4 teeth at his first bday.

  • I am very stern on this. I have worked in many child care centers and at one point a mother to her 3 month old baby tried telling me her baby was starting to teeth, I didnt believe her. He was soooo cranky and it seemed some nights the only thing to calm him was a pacifer or your finger in his mouth. Within 2 weeks he sprouted his first tooth. Ever since then I believe babies teeth when they are developmentally ready. I have seen babies close to 8 months with their first tooth starting to come in. So if you feel your baby is teething I bet he/she is.
