Is it really that bad or are they all just paranoid??

I gave my 10 wk old a couple licks of a candy cane on Christmas. My family thought it was fine and cute, but my in-laws are pissed! They think I am endangering him! He was fine, he even enjoyed it smiling and cooing - and it was only a couple licks! Is it really that bad, or are they over-reacting??

  • I think all parents should keep sugar away from children as long as possible. Your son won't die over the candy cane lick but I don't encourage it.

  • They're overreacting. I thought that giving my son tastes of certain things was bad at first, but it isn't.
He won't die or have a sugar overload, lol.

Don't pay them any mind dear.
    You did nothing wrong.

  • They're over reacting. It isn't like you gave it to him to choke on or something. I bet it was very cute. Did you get pictures? = )

  • I think they were definately overreacting. It was just for fun and that little bit of sugar isn't going to hurt him. Anymore people seem to get bent out of shape over the smallest things. Silly really.

  • personally I try to keep my kids away from refined sugar as long as possible and would not have done it myself or allowed it to my child, but it is not going to kill him or even make him sick.
