Does that bomber deserve a fair trial?

I know the US is all about equal rights but come on!

An attorney from our country is going to defend his ass. DOes he deserve a fair trial? Do WE deserve to spend our tax money on this? Shouldn't we just put a bullet to his head since we know he tried to commit terrorism?

  • absolutely not. Only terrorist should never be given a civil trial! They need to be tried as any other war criminal, not like a US citizen!

  • Isn't that the point of committing a crime in the United States and are we to assume that we know all the facts because we saw it on the news? If he doesn't get a fair trial then whose next? Until we're snatching people off of the street and throwing them straight in the clinker because "someone" saw them do it.

  • I think it would have been fair to dump his ass of the plane before it landed. Exactly why should he have a trial at all, fair or otherwise? There is a plane full of people and lots of evidence to prove exactly what he was doing. we tax payers will be footing the bill. It was a terrorist act and everyone knows it. I do think we should interrogate him (even waterboard him) to find out exactly who put him up to it and about the terrorists he talked to or worked with while he was planning this.

  • Absolutely not! The moment he tried to blow up a plane with nearly 300 innocent men, women, and children was the moment he lost all right to ANY kind of "fair trial!"

"Tragedy was averted only because the detonator, an acid-filled syringe, melted and did not make proper contact with the PETN. The PETN burned, rather than detonated, sending a spout of flames more than six feet high and severely burning Abdulmutallab -- but causing minimal damage to the plane. The syringe melted completely."

1.) The bomber was NIGERIAN citizen....not an AMERICAN citizen....big difference!
2.) Do you REALLY thing the Dutch passenger that jumped and subdued this terrorist along with 300 witnesses, were WRONG?!
3.) Did you REALLY believe when Obama called the "Panty Bomber" the ALLEGED suspect?!

  • If he were an American citizen, yes. He's not. He deserves a military trial since he basically attempted to bomb us (yet again.)

  • Ideally no, he shouldn't get one, however America wouldn't be America without giving him the fair trial. Having fair trials and civil rights is what makes us the wonderful country that we are. It's what makes us civilized and better than the blood-thirsty brutes in other countries. He's going to get his ass hemmed up either way, but they're going to humor him and give him a chance to explain himself before doing so. Sadaam Hussein had a trial as well and look what happened to him. It's just the way the system works.

  • To add on to my answer, he's not a US citizen, but his actions were directed at US soil, so therefore we handle him the American way. Obama had to refer to him as the ALLEGED suspect because he is technically innocent until PROVEN guilty IN A COURT OF LAW. He will be PROVEN guilty at his trial and then he will be punished accordingly.

  • Fair trial yes! If he's guilty the trail will play that out and he will be punished. If we start throwing our laws out the window and acting like they do "shoot first ask later" then what are we fighting to preserve?

You never know perhaps in the course of the case they will discover new information that can help thwart an upcoming plot.
