What do you do if you get a splinter in your hand?

Today I was leaning with my hand on a telephone pole and I got a splinter in my hand,it's near the fatty part of the hand or I should say padded part.

  • I believe the new answer is nothing, your body will eventually expel the wood since it is a foreign object. The old school answer is get a pair of tweezers and pull it out.

  • pull it out with duct tape

  • I like the duct tape solution! Never gave that a thought. I'd wash the area and try to use tweezers. I know you can use the tip of a needle, but that would most likely hurt alot. Good luck!

  • If it small then put a piece of fat back on it and wrap it up.

  • Actually if you do nothing the skin heals up over it and it can cause an infection so don't ignore it. I sterilize a needle and gently pull back the skin to get access and pull it out with my fingernails or tweezers. Tape is a good idea as well. If that fails they have a drawing salve at the pharmacy that will draw it out. When I was young we used the fat of bacon as a drawing salve. Not sure if you want to smell like bacon though!

  • I'm bad, I use nail clippers to cut the skin and then tweezers to get it out. It's the easiest and quickest way for me

Hope you are able to get it out without too much pain
