Am I overfeeding my son?

My son is currently almost 5 months old. He eats approx. 12 oz. of rice cereal/fruit mix 2-3 times a day. He also is still breastfeeding, and is still eating just as much from the breast as he was before he started solids. Any suggestions are welcome. I am just not sure if he is eating too much. We go for his check up on the 7th, but I am too impatient to wait until then without some ideas...

  • He sounds fine to me, if he is eating it then he is hungry don't worry about it at this age they need more nutrients so I say you are fine.

  • You don't have to just feed him rice cereal, its just empty calories. Try sweet potatoes, avacodos, bananas...I started my DD's solids by mixing all of those foods with breast milk.

  • I also wouldn't worry too much about his weight, your doc will let you know where he stands soon long as he's not underweight I wouldn't worry.

  • I second Farrahann!

He sounds fine. I didn't even know a baby that young COULD overeat, BTW.
