Playing Devil's Advocate here...re: the post about the tattooed children...how is that any different than a parent piercing their child's ears?

Besides the fact that ear piercing is not illegal!

BTW, my daughter's ears were pierced when she was two, although she prefers not to wear earrings now (she's 14.)

  • What? You can't even compare the two! A tattoo is permanent INK! A piercing is a tiny hole!

  • I think it is exactly the same issue. I also think piercing infants and childrens ears should follow the same rules as piercing a belly button or lip...16 and only with parental consent.

  • what a dumb question!

a tattoo is something that will stick with you for life and is something you should decide as an adult if you want...not an adult deciding for their baby...what if that child were to grow up and not like the tat?

  • NO they arent both permanent,
THe holes can close up. Tatoos dont go away,
    They are 2 different things.

  • I'm against piercing young children's ears because pierced ears can get infected, hurt even if they aren't infected, ear rings can be irritating, and it can hurt to sleep on ear rings.

Piercing a child's ear is quick and not very painful. Getting a tattoo takes a long time and is painful.

Pierced ear holes can grow shut with little or no scar. Tattoos are forever.

  • What if the child were to grow up and decide she doesn't want a piercing. Exact same scenario. It's permanent.
