  • i started my daughter on cereal at 6 months with of course the go ahead from the pediatrician. He always told me that i do what i feel is right, if she is eating it fine then gradually move on to other foods one at a time to make sure she has no food allergies. Be careful with the rice, it tends to constipate, so my doctor told me to try to the single grain oatmeal.

  • About 6 months, but only one meal a day. She didn't start consistently on solids until closer to 8 or 9 months and didn't start table foods until about 11 months.

  • Cereal and baby food are considered solids. I introduce pureed/mashed foods at around 6mos. then move on to finger/table foods by about 8mos. depending upon the baby.

  • Point of clarification...anything but breastmilk or formula IS solids...and breastmilk and formula ARE foods. **smile**

Solids, including cereal, are recommended for introduction for formula babies at four months, breastfed babies at six months. We did six months.
