Is Jesus ever called Son of Man in the Bible? I have heard of him being called Son of Man. What does it mean?

  • Means He is fully God and fully Man
He is the Son of God and Son of Man.... Adam being the first man. :-)

  • Yep, he's called the Son of Man in the Bible in several places. It's because He was born from a human being when He came to earth.

  • I always wondered why they called him son of man too. I have good insight on that now thanks.

  • Yes, Jesus did call Himself the Son of Man because the book of Daniel uses that title as a prophetic name for the Messiah.

  • Matthew 8:20; 9:6; 10:23; 11:19; 12:8, 32, 40; 13:36, 41; 16:13, 27, 28; 17:9, 12, 22; 19:28; 20:18, 28; 24:27, 30 (twice), 37, 39, 44; 25:31; 26:2, 24 (twice), 45, 64.

It's in the Bible aplenty. This is where I found it just in Matthew. It's "Son" with a capital letter, denoting a definite article. The Greek word translated Son literally meant THE Son. As opposed to A son (of man).

    Fascinating, IMO :)
