Separation Anxiety

How come separation anxiety is thought to only happen when you drop your child off at daycare or preschool for the first time? And why is it considered to be when your child cries for your attention? That not wha I was always lead to believe it was. Please anyone, help me straighten this out!

  • It isn't. It is whenever you are absent from their field of view and they break down. It can be when you go to the bathroom, or go to work etc. Some kids don't have it all the time and it comes and goes like a mood, others are that way all the time. Did that help?

  • It is actually a sign of how well you have bonded with your child
