What is in bag salad that gives it such a bad after tast?

Every once in a while I will buy one of those bag salads and I always regret it. There is such a bad after taste that keeps coming back.

  • I'm not sure but I'll bet it is a type of preservative to keep it fresh longer. I can't stand it either!

  • its been sealed in a bag for who knows how long...I'd smell bad too. lol

I get the boxed green mixes that have vent holes - never have a problem with them.

  • Honestly, not to gross you out, but I think it's bacteria or the beginnings of mold. I don't buy the bagged lettuce anymore because in the past they have never tasted fresh and, at times, have made me really sick.

  • The bag has a preservative lining that makes the food taste weird. Cereals have it too. They aren't raw fod Cheerios don't pick it up as much.

The plastic boxes of greens are much better.
