how much do you get in taxes for each child?

i live in indiana. this will be my first year getting taxes for my son. does anyone know how much you get back for a child?

  • For federal taxes, the standard exemption per dependent is $3,650 and up to $1000 per child. EIC depends on your income and whether or not you'd qualify.

    I'm not sure about Indiana state taxes. If you go to your state's website you may be able to find that information.

  • Unless its changed my parents always got 400 per kid. We are in NC. I dont know how much I got for my kid. I dont remember.

  • Don't forget about seeing if you qualify for Earned Income Credit, it can be a huge help!

  • For Earned Income Credit i got $2500 last year for my daughter. I live in Arkansas.
