  • My mom and dad were int he care of a non-profit hospice, and the same nurse ended up caring for both of them. She visited regularly, took vitals and adjusted meds as needed to keep them comfortable. There was also a home health aide who came in to bathe them, and a social worker who visited regularly to help us with any social services or mental health issues.

The non-profit did not do round the clock care. We handled all daytime care, and we also hired nursing help to be there at night. The nurse would help with getting them to the bathroom while they could still walk, and then with the diapers when they could no longer do so, and with giving medicines and feeding and anything else they needed in the night.
