  • u/s aren't always right.

my 2nd was measured at being 9pounds when I had an u/s at 36 weeks, she was born at 39 weighing in at 7lbs.

  • You can not trust ultra sounds. They just estimate and can be way off at time. It also does not mean baby will come early.

  • No, especially if it's your first; average is closer to 41 weeks than 40. My ultrasound at 38 weeks with my first was off by a pound, and I've heard of them being off by as much as 2 pounds. It's really not accurate, and definitely no indication of when your baby will be able to sustain life on his own. Just because he's 8 lbs doesn't mean his lungs are fully mature.

  • no i think he will probably be a week or 2 late ... that's just average... those size guesses are way off so your baby could be born 6 lbs or 9 lbs. the only way to weigh a baby is with a scale after he or she is born =) i'd count on being pregnant for 5-7 more weeks.

  • Ultrasounds are not reliable, its just an estimation and can be off by a couple of pounds. also size and ready are not the same thing at all.
