I need advice, activities, help, PLEASE READ

My grandmother teaches a Sunday School class for ADULTS, keep in mind they are majority seniors, BUT she needs a new method as far as teaching to get their attention besides just memorizing the lesson for the week and teaching on it... Please if you can offer ANY ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. Ideas to get their attention, and hold it. Activities that can be done, that doesn't require being physical, maybe men against woman, or SOMETHING?!? thanks in advance, and God Bless.

  • It's hard to think of ideas when I don't know what the specific lesson is. Visual aids are always good when teaching or making the information into a game...like jeopardy. Also, when you involve activities like crafts where you work with your hands, it helps to hold attention as well.

  • Sit in a circle. Get bible flash cards and give one card to each person. No looking. One person goes first and holds the card to their forhead, no looking. The rest of the group takes turns giving 1 clue to what the card being held to the forehead contains. The person WITH the card to their forehead has to guess what is on the card. If you dont have bible flash cards just write whatever information you want to on the card.

  • As a senior I think that audience participation is always interesting. Testimonies are interesting. Relating our own experiences are very helpful. God is good and he has a way of working in our lives. Looking back is not usually boring. There are lots of videos out there that are wonderful. Don't be afraid to get out of the book occasionally.
