If Conrad Murray is indicted for involuntary manslaughter, doesn't that open it up for every drug dealer to be prosecuted as well?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that it's ok to deal drugs to anyone but Micheal Jackson willing took the drugs that killed him. Why is this still being talked about? Yes, Murray is a doctor and should be held to higher standards, but he was also in a sense Jackson's dealer. I just don't get why people can't admit that Jackson was addicted to drugs and he killed himself because of this.

  • I think they would be crazy to open it up towards all drug dealers. No one forces you to do drugs. Most drug offenses are non-violent and I dont' want the taxpayers to pay for all of them to be in jail. Sorry, but if someone is stupid enough to do drugs, they have to live (or die) by those consequences.

  • No it won't open it up to drug dealers - that would be a totally different thing - he is a doctor and has a responsibility to ensure no harm comes to his patients and that he isn't prescribing insane amounts of medication just because his patient is rich. Drug dealers have no such responsibility.

  • But those people are choosing to be on drugs. They made the choice not the dealer. And yes, Murray should loose his license, but not go to jail for what his patient did to himself.

  • Well, let's see...if there were no drug dealers, there would be less drug addicts.  Hmmmm, kind of a no brainer to me.  Drugs destroy people's lives.  Dealers are nothing but parasites.  Vermin that feeds off the misery of others.  Let's get rid of them.  Including the doctors who over medicate and over prescribe drugs.

  • All drug dealers should be prosecuted. He calls himself a doctor. Well the hypocratic oath first and foremost says do NO harm! He did harm by writing scripts for drugs that ultimately caused the death of his patient. He should be held accountable.
