Call it bored with the snow, I have had a lot of time to think about this today.

If we hear our neighbor use the Lords name in vain. We tell them it is against God, our neighbor continues to do it we go the church...

How many times or how long do we tell them and talk to our church leaders before you go the other way?

  • lol anon : 48 thats the chapter number I copied from bible gate way. Just read the words and skip the numbers or single letters.

    Here just in case

If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.
But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED. "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

  • is the neighbor a member of the church? are you 3 and tattling? I'm confused! If your neighbor's speech bother's you, don't be around him. It's real simple. What is your church going to do about your neighbor, especially if he doesn't even go to that church

  • LOL OK I am getting off for a bit. Anon:11 it is a bible verse with a hypothetical situation.

Neighbor doesn't mean the person next door, but most the people on this block are Catholic.

    -------------------

Taking the Lord's name in vain would not qualify for this passage. These verses are speaking of sins (or trespasses) made directly against another person. For instance, if your neighbor lies on you, or steals from you, beats you, ect.

Now, if this person continually hurts you after you have followed this instruction,it's best to forgive and cut ties with them. If you continue to stick around for the abuse, you become an enabler ( which in itself is a sin. )

  • If he doesn't listen the first time, he's not going to listen.. even when you bring a mob with you to try to prosecute him. Sorry, but this is like the girl who cried wolf situation. If you go and tell on your "brother" to three others, after a private conversation, these three others are going to take your story, even if you've misinterpreted it. When your "brother" doesn't listen then, and you go and tell the church, your bringing the community down on his head for what? Look what happened in Salem when people did this. Not a pretty picture. To be fair, you have to let your "brother" speak first to you, and you have to listen to him as well. You can't just tell him your story, and tell others your story so they will follow to prosecute him. I DO see that if you see (an example here) your "brother" throw a rock at a child, that you should step in. But if it's something as little as a curse word cont.

  • you should just tell him not to do so in front of you. Why bring the community down on his head for a "sin" so small. Especially when you couldn't have misheard him.
