Strange lump about belly button

My dd who is 15 years old, had recently (within the last week or so) developed a strange lump right about her belly button. She says it hurts really bad when she presses on it. And as of yesterday, she's been experiencing major bloating in the lower stomach and back pains. What could this be?

  • I was thinking it could be a hernia, like maybe an unbelical hernia?

  • Most umbilical hernias are painless, if she is having pain, the area changes colors, or the pain increases have her checked ASAP, parts of the bowel can come out in the opening and cut off the blood supply to it. If she only has pain touching it, have her aviod the area until you get it checked to find out if it is hernia or something else.

  • Another possibility, did she get it pierced and then get infected?
