so i have charge offs, collections and some debt paid off , all of which are more than 4 yr old , i haven't checked my credit , does anyone think my credit might be very bad?

  • Yeah, that stuff stays on for 7 years, but they can sell the debt to a collection agency and start the clock all over again. It's probably not good right now.

    This will tell you exactly what is on your credit report. It doesn't give you your FICO score but you can see what is on it.

  • Yes, really, what Pnukey said. A collection agency sold my 6 years old debt last year to another collection agency. Now the clock starts again. It was supposed to be charged off and I didn't keep the papers because it didn't show up on my credit report for those 6 years.

  • Those things stay on your credit for upwards of 10 years. Your scores are likely in the 500s. You should go to and check your score. But understand that lenders of any type don't just look at your score, they look at history, revolving credit, credit available among other things.
