Does having to apply for a group here on CM make you not want to bother being a member?

  • Sometimes, yes. Unless I REALLY want to be part of the group, I'll just find another one that doesn't make me apply.

  • Yes. We had this discussion recently in a group where I am an admin. I was overruled, though.

  • I actually prefer groups that need applications than public groups. Bad people are everywhere but I think there's less rude comments in private groups. And there are some groups either public or private, I'm not sure which, that are no holds barred - anything and everything goes.

    I have no problem with some groups trying to keep it small or nice.

  • I prefer the applications. it means that someone actually takes a moment to see who's joining and not just everyone on a whim.
