I want it to know more further about Gestional diabetes....and Fetus dead?

Im totally concern today my dr told me he needs to keep on seeing me twice a week to get stress test on my baby to make sure everything is going good! He also said something that schock me, that women with gestional diabetes have a risk of having fetus dead!!! So Im scared now, so now that I go every week to see him is just to check for that.. Im super scared to go to the office just to find out my baby is dead.....I was mute when he told me that... Im not sure if it was part of him telling me since I have gestional diabetes and he had an obligation on telling me! Any one have a suggestion?

  • Sweetie it can happen, but more than likely you will be fine....I had a stillborn myself, and it is awful, but he was required to tell you what could happen, just eat right and take care of yourself! You can buy a fetal monitor at the store if you want to hear your baby's heartbeat and feel more secure,,, watch the carbs and good luck! How far are you?

  • I've never heard that but I'm sure he just had to inform you of the risk. Even women with healthy pregnancies and healthy fetuses all 9 months have a risk of stillbirth, it's rare but it's there you know? I wouldn't stress more about it, just do everything he tells you as far as monitoring your sugar and staying healthy.

  • an obstetrician i interviewed told me that GD can increase the risk of still born, yes. here are some links though that will hopefully make you feel better

  • I had gestational diabetes and had a perfectly healthy son over 2 years ago. I honestly can't believe that your doctor would tell you that! Gosh, we worry enough without added crap on top if it. Just take care of yourself, and monitor your blood sugars and diet like you are supposed to. I also had the stress test 2x a week. That is very standard and actually made me feel better as then I knew everything was ok each time. You and your baby will be fine! :)
