In his first year in office, President Obama did better even than legendary arm-twister Lyndon Johnson in winning congressional votes on issues where he took a position, a Congressional Quarterly study finds.

The new CQ study gives Obama a higher mark than any other president since it began scoring presidential success rates in Congress more than five decades ago. And that was in a year where Obama tackled how to deal with Afghanistan, Iraq, an expanding terrorist threat, the economic crisis and battles over health care.

  • Of course he had congressional support. Congress hand picked him then did everything in their ability (some not exactly legal) to make sure he won.

Tackled??? How so? I saw him sit on his arse on Afghanistan. I see him not doing anything productive in Iraq as I recall more people from Ft. Richardson just got sent BACK! Expanding terrorist threat? How can they claim he tackled that when he wont even call them what they are TERRORISTS! He sure did tackle the economic crisis and sent it into over drive with the 787billion dollar FAIL and is now wanting MORE! His "battles" over health care have just begun. The only thing he truly tackled was the 18th hole... oh about 24 times in 9 months! NICE!

  • Way to spin it, NPR !!

The way I see it, Obama can hardly keep UP with the progressive strides being made by super-liberal majorities in both Houses.

  • Well, he did talk about the problem with human caused disasters, so he gets to claim he tackles the issue. Kind of like Gore claiming the internet because he used it once.

  • I love that ^^^!

I thought he tackled the Olympic bid. I know he's TALKED a lot about what to do to get jobs back. I wish he would stop talking, and start doing. Only thing is, there's no wind turbine, solar panel, or battery factories around here, so I guess we'll be still waiting.......
